After you’ve submitted your request, the host has up to 72 hours to respond. Once accepted, your payment will be securely processed via Stripe.4. Get to Work
Once your booking is confirmed, it’s go time! You're all set to start working in your reserved garage space.

GarageShare began with a simple pain point: When inspiration strikes, why isn’t it easy to rent a garage—fully equipped and ready to go?Fresh out of college and squeezed into a small Orlando apartment, I had the passion but nowhere to do the work. Whether I was repairing my car or building something from scratch, I had to make a two-hour trek back to my mom’s garage —where all my tools lived.Each long trip made one thing painfully clear: If you’ve got the passion to create, you shouldn’t have to search high and low for the space to do it. In a world where homes, cars, and even power tools are shared, why not garages and workshops too?GarageShare was built to give makers, builders, and fixers easy access to the space they need—no matter the project size.

FAQs

1. Setting Up and Verifying Your Account

Before you can finalize a reservation or become a Garage Owner, we need to confirm your identity. If you update information on your account, like your legal name, you may be asked to complete the process again.

Verifying your Identity: We will ask for your legal name, address, and/or other personal information, as well as a photo of your government issued photo ID.

Verifying your phone number: Enter your area code and phone number. A 4-digit code via text message will be sent for verification.

Background Checks: To help maintain trust across our community, GarageShare may conduct background checks on Garage Owners. This process helps ensure that users can confidently book spaces with vetted individuals.

2. How do I Book a Garage?
Searching and Filtering: When you enter your state and desired booking dates, all listings that show up are the ones that are available. You can also filter by Garage Type and Tools & Equipment if you’re looking for something specific.

At time of launch, GarageShare will only have garages available within 200 miles of Atlanta, GA.

Types of Garages: GarageShare offers a diverse range of garages—from automotive workspaces and woodworking shops to storage and custom hobby spaces—designed to support whatever passion drives you.

Communication with Garage Owners: Garage Owners are encouraged to provide comprehensive listings, including a detailed description, facility dimensions, available tools and equipment, and any installed safety features.

If you have questions about a garage, feel free to contact the Garage Owner directly. While pre-booking visits aren't available, owners are happy to share additional information to help you feel confident in your choice.

3. How do I become a Garage Owner (Host)?
Creating a Garage: Add a new garage. Fill out all of the required information including Name, Garage Type, Price per 1/2 day and day (we typically see at least $50 for 1/2 day and $100 for a full day), Address (don’t worry – this won’t be shown to the booker until you approve the reservation), Tools and Equipment, Safety features, Facility size, hours of operation, description, images, exclusion dates, and preferred contact method.

After creating a new garage, it should show in search results within 24 hours, but it may take longer for some listings (pending review).

Writing a Great Garage Description

Set clear expectations: Craft a thorough description that highlights the purpose and appeal of your garage. Share what makes it valuable and why others would benefit from using it.

Be concise and impactful: Keep your language brief but meaningful. Focus on the essentials so potential users can scan and understand quickly.

Highlight unique features: Call out special capabilities—whether it's outfitted for automotive repairs, woodworking, or creative hobbies. List tools and equipment available, and explain how they make your garage stand out.

Stay authentic and honest: Avoid overhyping the space. Overpromising can lead to disappointment. Being transparent builds trust and encourages repeat bookings and positive word-of-mouth.

4. What if I break something during my reservation?
If something gets damaged during your reservation, here’s how GarageShare typically handles it:
Minor Damage (e.g., broken common wrench or socket): Most Garage Owners understand that small wear and tear happens. Many won’t charge for minor breakages—especially if you're honest about it. Offering to replace the item or leave a cash tip equivalent to its value is always appreciated.

Major Damage (e.g., broken major tools or equipment): GarageShare offers protection for Garage Owners through its claims process. Owners can submit a damage report by emailing [email protected]. If verified, GarageShare may charge your payment method to cover the repair or replacement. Some garages may also use security deposits to offset costs.

What’s Covered vs. What’s Not: GarageShare does not cover damage from regular use (like worn shop towels or heavily used tools), but it does step in for accidental or malicious damage. To be eligible, the damage must be reported within 14 days or before the next reservation begins.

5. How do I know if my belongings and tools/equipment as a Garage Owner are safe?
Protecting your garage assets is all about blending trust with smart safeguards. Here’s how to keep everything secure while still providing a seamless user experience:Secure private areas:
- Lock up closets, cabinets, or any space storing personal or off-limits items.
- Smart locks let you easily update access codes between reservations.
- Label restricted zones clearly within the garage to avoid confusion.

Establish clear guidelines:
- Share rules around respecting equipment and personal property as part of your onboarding or listing details.
- Clarify the consequences of misuse, damage, or theft—setting expectations early builds trust.

Leverage GarageShare’s protections:
- If something goes wrong, submit a claim to [email protected].
- Document your inventory with photos and receipts to ensure quick resolution.
- Keeping updated records helps GarageShare support you effectively if damage occurs.

Stay in touch with users
- A friendly check-in message before arrival reinforces your expectations.
- If you manage multiple reservations, leave a buffer day to inspect the property between guests.

Learn from reviews
- Pay attention to user feedback—it often highlights respectful behavior or opportunities for improvement.
- Adjust your setup based on recurring comments to better safeguard your belongings.

6. Payment Methods Accepted
GarageShare supports a variety of secure payment options through Stripe Connect to make booking simple and hassle-free:

Credit and Debit Cards: All major cards are accepted, including Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover.

Digital Wallets: You may be able to use services like Apple Pay or Google Pay depending on your device and location.

GarageShare Credits: If you’ve received GarageShare promotional credits, gift credits, or referral rewards, they’ll be automatically applied at checkout when eligible.

Secure Processing: All transactions are processed securely, and we never store full payment details.

7. When do I pay for my reservation?

User Payment Timing: GarageShare charges your payment method immediately once the reservation is confirmed. This ensures the garage space and tools are reserved exclusively for your use.

Host Payout Timing: Hosts don’t receive payment until 24 hours after guest check-in, giving time to confirm everything was as expected.

8. GarageShare Refunds
GarageShare allows cancellations based on the Garage Owner’s specific cancellation policy categorized as follows:

Flexible: Full refund if canceled at least 48 hours before the Garage’s opening hours.
o Standard: Full refund if cancelled at least 5 days before the reservation.

Limited: Partial refund, 50%, if cancelled at least 5 days before the reservation.

Bonus Protection: If you cancel your reservation within 24 hours of booking and the reservation is not within 5 days, you’ll receive a full refund, regardless of the cancellation policy selected.

Important: Before booking, be sure to review the individual garage’s cancellation terms to understand your refund eligibility.
